Greetings and thank you for visiting the website of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Chapter we are striving to make our website a tool that will provide timely information and help you learn more about the great work being done by this chapter. Home of the 17th General President A. Maceo Smith this chapter has produced a number of leaders in the community and we continue to be Servants of All, while projecting a positive image of Alpha Men. As a chapter, we endeavor to continuously develop our fraternal bonds in a way that allows us to enrich Brothers with the spirit of Alpha Phi Alpha that we hold so dear to our hearts.
Our theme for the 2014-2015 fraternal years is: “Reclaiming the Brotherhood”. With this as a guiding principle, we strive to make tangible, financial and a sustainable impact on the lives of the residents of the communities that we serve in the Dallas area. For over 80 years, ASL has strived to make an impact in our community through the successful implementation of the fraternity’s national programs Go-To-High School, Go-To-College; A Voteless People is a Hopeless People; Brother’s Keeper; and Project Alpha.
In addition, we will focus on nurturing our most precious resources, one of which is our young men by way of Alpha Merit our mentoring arm, and we will help them to develop values and principles that will allow them to be successful. This objective will be accomplished by providing value-added service and advocacy to aid the less fortunate in our communities. Through Alpha Merit, we provide young males with positive role models and the information and skills they need for academic success and productive citizenship. Through this program we do partnerships with William A. Blair Elementary School, Billy E. Dade Middle School, James Madison High School and Lincoln High School in Dallas, TX.
As a chapter, we provide and participate in numerous programs/projects in the area. ASL has worked in conjunction with the Good Street Baptist Church in Dallas to be the proud sponsors of the Boy Scouts of America Troop #167. Other projects include Thanksgiving & Christmas Giveaway, March of Dimes, African American Museum and numerous others. We take great pride in leading by example, and we want our investments to positively impact our youth, community and Brotherhood.
Lastly, if you are an Alpha brother who is new to the area or you have not been active and are seeking a chapter to be active with, you need look no further. ASL gladly welcomes you to come and work with us. We believe in working hard but we are also known to have a lot of fun. We welcome all brothers to drop by one of our regular chapter meetings on the second Saturday of each month. Brothers are also welcome to come join us at one of our service or social activities that are posted on our Chapter Calendar.
Yours in Service,
Bro. Jabari Jones
